What a GAF Master Elite Contractor Can Do for You

Mention GAF Master Elite, and some people get really excited. Others might look at you quizzically. It’s a title assigned to a roofing contractor that has undergone rigorous training and certification to become an expert GAF roofing installer. To better understand what that means, you need to know what a GAF Master Elite contractor can do for you.

1. Check and Ensure the Structural Soundness of a Roof

Before you even begin a roofing project, you want to know that the “bones” of the roof are solid. This contractor checks every point on the roof and under the roof to ensure that it is structurally sound before beginning to tear off roofing materials and installing your GAF shingle roofing system. Without first checking the structural soundness of the roof, applying the GAF roofing system might result in failure, and nobody wants that.

2. Sell You a GAF Roofing System and Shingles

A GAF roofing system consists of shingles and two other GAF components (e.g., ridge poles, underlayment, etc.). The GAF Master Elite Contractor will look at your home’s needs, assess the type of system and shingles that would most benefit you and fit your budget, and then sell the system to you. There’s no push to sell you more than what you need, but if you want to pay more for a more premium shingle with greater protection or better warranty, you can.

3. Explain in Great Detail What Makes GAF the Better Product

You could pick any roofing contractor and any roofing system or shingle out there, but do you really know what you are getting? Other contractors may not fully explain to you what they are installing. A GAF Master Elite contractor not only explains these products but is required by his certification to explain these products. Customers generally are left with a comprehensive understanding of exactly what they are buying and why it’s superior to other roofing products.

4. Be Present and Working on the Roof

GAF Master Elite contractors are required to be present and working on any installation of GAF roofing products. This consistent overview of what the work crew is doing ensures that every piece of the roof is installed according to GAF’s strict requirements. Nothing is installed properly when the primary person responsible is present and overseeing the work.

5. Check and Repair the Roof If Something Goes Wrong

It is unusual for anything to go wrong with GAF products because of the tightness of the quality control efforts and the training contractors receive. However, if something does go wrong, that exact same contractor will return to inspect, repair, and uphold the warranty as it applies to the situation. It’s the level of quality customer service that is expected of every GAF Master Elite roofing contractor.

6. Explain the Warranty Levels to You

GAF sells a few different warranty levels with its products. GAF Gold and GAF Silver are just two of those levels. When it sounds complicated, the GAF Master Elite contractor will explain to you how each of these warranty levels works and what each covers. The higher up you go for warranties, the more is covered, but it also means a larger cost. The contractor helps you weigh your warranty and warranty coverage options to pick the one that’s right for you.

7. Present You With Roofing Materials That Can Resist All Weather

Many GAF roofing materials are able to resist UV damage, wind, hail, etc. Specialized shingles can resist even stronger winds. Depending on where you live and the weather you frequently experience, the GAF Master Elite contractor will make suggestions based on the level of weather resistance and savings to your roof overall. A well-protected, durable roof saves hundreds, even potentially thousands, of dollars over the life of your roof. That’s something guaranteed by GAF, and warrantied by your GAF contractor.

8. Schedule Emergency Roofing Appointments

Only in the worst of hurricanes or tornadoes would you ever need to be concerned about a GAF roofing system. If a really bad storm of either of these types were to hit your roof, you can quickly schedule an emergency appointment with your roofing contractor and his installation team. They will inspect and help you file any valid warranty claims to get your roof restored.
